Grading students takes a lot of time for teachers and I think anything that can help with accuracy and time will be welcome. A good example of this is Class Mate Grade book software makes it easy for teacher to calculate, manage and organize their grades.

As with Grade keeper, we had in our school, the problem is never the technology but the rather odd way people mark students work. I think marking and assessment need to be standard before such technology can be used.
I think course work is a far better way to assess students work and the marking is more consistent
I agree with this article

‘Projects: Regrettably, many teachers still feel that doing projects is either not a valid way of teaching or see them as obstacles. This may be due to the fact that in many cases teachers don't have the proper facilities at their schools. However, even with enough computers and enough hours in the computer rooms, some teachers find doing projects very challenging and even frightening. Perhaps this is due in part to their fear of relinquishing the control they have in a frontally-taught lesson.’
Brother Pisutr, I think online gradebooks can be a useful tool to keep track of students' grades. I've used LetterGrade (required by our school district) when teaching at high school, and TeacherEase for my own records for high school and college teaching.
Great Leigh,
Looked at Teacher Ease but it's all online. We worry about security and internet connection.
Ah, good point about it being online. Even with a reliable Internet connection, the site may take a lot of time to load, depending on connection speeds.
Yes Leigh and anon that is a great concern. also there is legal requirements of keeping copy of important data
